This is a good question. Happily, the TaskPaper app can read .MD files and work with them as if they were .taskpaper. So I usually have both open on my Mac at the same time, switching between them when a particular feature off one or the other will makes things easier.
Dues that make sense? Let me know if I've missed the mark with what you are asking.
Obsidian folds text, but you have to do the @done yourself. I use a different app when marking tasks complete and archiving them.
My preference is to use the official TaskPaper app or an app like Sublime Text in TaskPaper mode, but sometimes it's more convenient to make quick edits in Obsidian, where I'm doing most of my other work.
The point is that I've found a way to adjust the way I enter projects and tasks so it's useful in each app. E.g. I've made each project an H1 so I can see a list of projects in the outline pane in Obsidian, and while the single # isn't functional in the TaskPaper app, it isn't too visually bothersome, either. I've added a {{TOC}} to generate this list of projects in iA Writer and Taio, even though it's useless in Obsidian and TaskPaper.
I don't exactly understand how you are"...currently using several apps to interact with my Projects and Tasks 2023.md file. This is to make sure the format I use is broadly compatible with most plain text apps, while still conforming to the TaskPaper syntax."

Do you mean the keep it simple principle, or something else?
yes
tweaking too much can be annoying
thanks anyway
I'm with you on that! But I'm aware that one person's `simple` often looks different to anothers', and that's okay if it does the job.
I am not able to download the NEW Obsidian vault
That's odd. Can you tell me what error you're receiving?

no KISS ?
For instance capabilty of @done? …capability of folding text…?

How an md file maintain a TP syntax?
